First of all, we would like to say Thank You to Rob's whole family for splitting off a piece of land so that we are able to build the house of our dreams. Thank You!
We are starting to build a Lincoln Logs log home. We've been designing our floor plan for almost 2 years, with a ton of help from our dealer, Patlin Enterprises. Nikki Patlin (who, to no fault of her own, is a Steelers fan) has been wonderful to work with and has helped us design the home of our dreams. Now that the design phase is over, our builder, Bruce Cast will be helping us make that dream house a reality. We are now starting to hire sub-contractors and design the interior, which is harder than we expected! There are so many choices for faucets, floors and appliances...it's all a little mind-boggling. All of the hard work will be worth it, and we can't wait to finally move into the home of our dreams!!
*UPDATE* (7.29.09) We haven't done too much to the house recently except some decorating and hanging up all my artwork. Now that we are finally in the house we are taking a much needed break and enjoying it! But here are some new pictures of the outside...
This is a really nice spot to relax!

We are on the back deck ALL the time! Love it!

(6.2.09) Well, Rob finished the breakfast bar top and it is GORGEOUS! One of the highlights of the kitchen. Not much else has been done except Rob installed some shelves in the closets. I'll add some new pictures of the outside as soon as my flowers are blooming!

We still have a ton of stuff in the basement that we are slowly bringing up. Here's The Priscilla. Isn't she beautiful.

Day 642 (4.26.09)
Okay - here's a big update. We are moved in!! We have a temporary Certificate of Occupancy. Our inspector gave us a short list of items to complete before he can give us a final. We've got them all done already except one! We are so excited to be living in the house after 4 years of preparation and building - it almost feels unreal that we are actually in now. But we LOVE it so much, it was all worth it!!
p.s. the stupid web design program I use won't take off this underlining!!! Sorry!

My WONDERFUL kitchen (note the breakfast bar top and paneling is not on yet)

The powder room - still a few finishing touches to get (we have a mirror, just need to install it!) but it's getting there.
The dining room

Stair Rails are on now
View of the great room from upstairs

My Den - sorry for the mess!
And the reason we are not currently sleeping in our real master bedroom.....the master bath isn't finished! Yes, we ran out of money for that too but we will do a little at a time....
One of my favorite rooms (okay they are all my favorite)...the Nursery!

Day 607 (3.22.09)
The hardwood floors are currently being finished! Here's some "before" and "during" pics...They have 2 coats of color and are now waiting on 3 coats of clear...The clear coat will darken them up a little more.

And staying with the Before and After theme, here's a pic of the front of the house, from this time last year, to jog your memory - and a recent one to compare (The deco beams are finally up!)

Closer look at the beams
The kitchen cabinets are in!!! I LOVE them!! Now we just need the electric guy to show up so we can install the appliances...(excuse the mess, I'll get some better pics when I'm able to clean up a bit!)

The boys built the permanant (to code) stairs fromthe garage to the house. We are hoping to get our CO by March 31st!

The garage is finally drywalled!!
This is the vanity for the Powder Room
Some interior doors are in

The landscaping has started, the mountains of dirt and piles of wood are finally disappearing!
Day 579 (2.22.09) Rob's dad took a week off to come and help us work on the house. THANK YOU Nils, we are so grateful!
The hardwood floors are in! Now they need to be stained...

Rob and his dad did a WONDERFUL job!
The kitchen is going in too! Yeay!
The nursery is nearly complete! All we need is some stuff on the walls and bathroom/closet doors.

Day 565 (2.8.09) A small update. Rob's dad was over this weekend starting to install the hardwood floors, but I haven't gotten any pictures yet! Soon!
All the painting is finished! I love the color of this room!!

Fireplace

The front door isn't covered up anymore...

View out the door's speakeasy
Day 559 (2.2.09) I could have sworn I did an update since December!! I don't know where it went!
The washer and dryer are installed, and YES I'm using them before I am even living in the house!!

The Great Room ceiling is finished! (View from the first floor...)

And the kitchen ceiling is finished too!

Carpet is installed in the 3 bedrooms upstairs. It's a light brown...The upstairs is almost complete. We will most likely move in upstairs before downstairs is finished. We just need to install the kitchen first...

Day 525 (12.30.08) Snow!

The boys have been busy tiling! This is the guest bath - it's just waiting on grout now.

While Rob and Nils have been tiling, I've been wiring! Intercom, Phone, Cable and Internet all need to be wired up in the basement plus connectors put on the ends in the rooms. This is Phone and Intercom in the basement...

and this is Cable and Internet. I've still got some work to do!
Bruce is still working on putting up the wood paneling on the walls and cielings...

They finished the back deck before the snow came

Day 508 (12.13.08) Painting, painting, painting!!
The Nursery

Rob's been working on preparing the floors for carpet. An extra layer of plywood goes on the floors so the height matches the adjacent tile (bathrooms) or hardwood (hallway).

The finished subfloor in one of the bedrooms.

Nils came over and helped us tile the kids bathroom floor. Thanks Dad!
